Muffin & Cupcake Tins & Trays

Three sizes, one job done properly

Muffin tins fail in a predictable way: thin metal heats unevenly, so you pull out a tray with six golden muffins at the front and six pale ones at the back, and after a few months the tray rocks on the shelf because it has warped. Ours are pressed from heavy-gauge carbon steel, 0.5mm to 1mm depending on the tray, so the heat spreads evenly across every cup and the tray stays flat for years. The non-stick coating is made without PTFE or PFOA, and everything carries a 10-year guarantee.

The range runs in three cup sizes. The 24 Cup Mini Muffin Tray has 4.5cm cups holding 30ml each, for bite-sized muffins, canapés and mini quiches. The 12 Cup Muffin Tray is the standard size recipes assume: 7.5cm cups at 120ml, for everyday muffins, cupcakes and fairy cakes. And the 6 Cup Jumbo Muffin Tray has deep 10cm cups that take a standard 4-inch case, for the tall, domed, coffee-shop muffin you can't get from a standard tin. Batch bakers can take the mini tray as a set of two or the jumbo as a set of two.

Not sure which size you'll actually use? Our muffin tin buying guide walks through the choice, and the cups earn their keep well beyond muffins: egg bites, individual quiches, bakery-style cinnamon rolls in the jumbo, and brownie bites in the mini.

Muffin tin questions, answered

What's the difference between a muffin tray and a cupcake tray?

Nothing, in practice. They're two names for the same 12-cup tin with 7.5cm cups. The difference is in the paper: cupcake cases are slightly smaller and straighter-sided than muffin cases, and both fit the same cups.

Do you make a deep muffin tray?

Yes, that's the 6 Cup Jumbo. Its 10cm cups are wider and deeper than a standard tin's, which is what gives you tall muffins with a proper dome, and it takes standard 4-inch jumbo or tulip cases.

Will standard paper cases fit?

Yes, each size takes its standard case: mini cases in the 4.5cm mini cups, regular muffin or cupcake cases in the 12-cup tray, and 4-inch jumbo cases in the jumbo. The coating releases cleanly enough that cases are optional rather than essential.

Can I make Yorkshire puddings in a muffin tin?

You can, and the deep cups give you a taller, cupped pudding. For the classic wide, crisp shape, a dedicated Yorkshire pudding tray with wide, shallow cups does it better, because the batter spreads and climbs rather than steaming.

Can I use a regular muffin recipe in the mini tray?

Yes. A standard 12-muffin recipe makes about 24 minis; the batter doesn't care what shape it bakes in, but the timing does change. Our mini muffin conversion guide covers times and temperatures.

Are the trays dishwasher safe?

Yes, though hand washing and drying straight away keeps the coating in better shape for longer, the same as any good tin. Our care and use guide has the full routine.
